Kenya Girls Lacrosse Clinics Report 23rd/24th-Jan-2016.

Kenya Girls Lacrosse Clinic Report 23rd/24th-Jan-2016.
The Kenya Lax calendar opened with a training clinic that ran from Saturday 23rd January to Sunday 24th January, 2016 at Booker Academy Secondary School in Mumias Kenya.
It attracted over 100 girls from five schools from Mumias Sub County on day One.
      Shitoto Girls Secondary School
      Bishop Silumeti
      Iyabo Secondary School
      St. Elias
Booker Academy Secondary School (for the first time)
The clinic was graced by Coaches from Uganda including Nyakana  Nakato Dorothy, Harriet Chotabai, Donald Atuhire and Twesiime Liberty as well as Robert a visiting volunteer coach from Germany. Joyce Muthoni from Nairobi also joined the coaching team.

COACHING BASICS FOCUSED MAJORLY ON;
Basic stick work and being tight on technique for passing and receiving the ball.
  Ground balls
  Rules
  Defense skills
  Dodges
  Game mentality and psyche

Lots of positives were noted as the girls that participated were improving exponentially skill wise throughout the two days, ground balls and mental fitness were some of the areas that registered lots of positives.

The fast moving lacrosse ball could be intimidating to anyone but with proper mental preparedness this is never the case.

Africa and the global lacrosse community can only get more excited by visiting or getting directly involved in these glorious lax projects not only in Kenya but across the continent.

There are still major challenges of lack of enough equipment like sticks and balls which makes it difficult to run some extensive drills. Also shortage of training materials such as bibs and cons that if available go a long way in helping to easy training drills and easing communication to the girls would be long overcome to this day, thank you.

The biggest appreciation goes to various Kenya lacrosse authorities and development partners led by Sporting Chance International director Storm Trentham and Kenyan country director Mr Osire Fredrick. The schools lacrosse association and chairman Opunde Peter and all the leaders and resident ports tutors all of resource the development of the programs thus far.

Hobert participated in the Uganda Lacrosse Kelly Cup 2016 tournament on 16th-Jan-2016 where he was instrumental in exhibiting the Germany way of lacrosse which was appealing to young less experienced players in Uganda.
